MAPLE LAWN, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Location-based mobile device security developer Inpixon Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inpixon Global Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:SYRX), today announced it has joined Good Technology™’s partner ecosystem to provide organizations with the ability to automatically change security policies on mobile devices based on contextual inputs such as the device’s location and owner. Inpixon’s ZoneDefense for Good allows systems administrators to create “hot zones” that can change the features, apps and content available on a Good-enabled device when it enters that zone. Hot zones can be as large as an entire building or as small as an office cubicle.
“This collaboration, coupling Inpixon’s capabilities with Good’s industry-leading security framework, marks the beginning of a new era in device security,” said Inpixon CEO Cleve Adams. “With ZoneDefense for Good, organizations can move away from the ‘one device, one policy’ model in favor of a ‘the right policy at the right place’ paradigm.”
The ability to automatically change device policies based on zone is particularly useful for organizations with R&D labs, boardrooms and sensitive areas with higher levels of security. As a mobile device enters one of these zones a new security policy can be triggered that prevents unauthorized activities such as file transfers, use of a camera or recording device, or accessing certain apps. Once the device exits the zone the more stringent security policy is replaced with the standard one and mobile device activities return to normal.
“Our customers are continually looking for ways to ensure their highly-sensitive data is protected,” said Matt Sturges, vice president of the Good Dynamics ecosystem at Good Technology. “ZoneDefense for Good offers another line of defense for organizations seeking more advanced mobile security and device detection capabilities.”
Beyond the ability to automatically manage device security based on location, ZoneDefense for Good also gives systems and security personnel a more complete view of the mobile devices operating within the organization. Capable of detecting and locating any cellular or Wifi devices, whether managed by Good or not, ZoneDefense offers administrators the ability to identify, monitor and report on rogue devices that would otherwise operate “under the radar.”
“Most people are surprised to learn just how many mobile devices are roaming freely about their organization doing who-knows-what,” Adams continued. “With ZoneDefense for Good, companies will have a handle on all of them, both known and unknown.”
ZoneDefense for Good will be available in the second quarter of 2014.
